FLIPPED CLASSROOM: SCIENCE LESSON: MATTER/VOLUME/DENSITY

 HELLO EVERYBODY!

1. VIDEO: WHAT IS MATTER?

2. SONG: MASS, VOLUME, DENSITY

3. In class, we will review these concepts and we will write these DEFINITIONS on your notebook.
  • MASS: the amount of matter in an object. We measure it in grams (g) or kilograms (Kg).
  • VOLUME: the space that an object occupies. We measure it in cubic centimetres (cm3)
  • DENSITY: the amount of matter contained in a certain volume, we calculate with this formula:     MASS divided by VOLUME. We measure it in g/cm3 (grams per cubic centrimetres)

4. EXPERIMENT.
I will take the following liquids to class and students will make a hypothesis/prediction of which of them has lower density (so it will be above) and which of them has higher density (it will be at the bottom).
OIL, HONEY, WATER, MILK, WASHING-UP LIQUID, CARAMEL SYRUP.
We will distribute a handout for this experiment.

5. CONCLUSIONS
Students will review the results of the EXPERIMENT, and will write the conclusions on their notebooks on the handout of the experiment.

Any questions? Please ask!

THANK YOU!
